Luige’s (NOT a Mario Brother)

Once again, this is the best photo I could find for the product. Setting the bar low, Luige. I looked at their site and it seems like they do sell a number of varieties, but I was only able to find 2 in the stores that actually carried it, so I had to get a pizza with pepperoni and sausage. I feel like that, in part, is why I shall not be giving this pizza high marks. It’s not that I hate sausage, but sometimes a sausage topping can be OVERWHELMING in flavor (as this one was) and be far too large to work on a pizza (as this one was). What do I mean by that? I mean these sausage pieces look like someone chopped up a baseball into 8 or so chunks. The pieces were so big that you needed several bites to get one down, and it was not unlike eating a big wet ball of seasoning. It also gave me heartburn.

Pros:

  • After I cooked it, it tasted almost exactly like it looked. No surprises here.

Cons:

  • Sauce was a bit off, can’t explain how or why. Just wasn’t that good. (-1 point)

  • Maybe if every chunk of sausage had been pepperoni the ratio would’ve been better, but the pizza needed more pepperoni. (-1 point)

  • Not NEARLY enough cheese. CHEESE. (-1 point)

  • Nothing against the pizza itself, but I’m taking a point off for being difficult to find. (-1 point)

6/10
