Frozen Pizza Ratings

Not Legit; should quit?

Reviewing a third pizza from the same manufacturer feels a lot like a waste of time. And it is! Looking through the annals, Pep’s original pizza managed to score an 8 on my patented flavor scale, while their second iteration only squeaked by with a 7. And if you’re seeing a pattern here, congratulations, you’ve just accurately predicted this pizza’s rating.

“Legit” seems to be a poor attempt to fight outside of Pep’s weight class, taking on the coveted "frozen pizza they serve at a local bar” business. To no one’s surprise, it doesn’t quite get there. And quite honestly, they’re getting in their own way on this one. The pizza is coated with some kind of oregano/basil/unknown spice blend that COMPLETELY overpowers any other flavor this thing might have. The ingredients on the box just list it as a “spice” and their website claims that it’s a “special spice.”

Clearly something worth protecting as a trade secret, this particular blend of green bullshit made me choke twice while eating this because it flew down my throat while I was breathing. I refuse to die alone in my apartment, eating a frozen pizza off the stove. Never again, Legit.

Pros:

  • Pretty decent pepperoni and cheese, as I’ve mentioned in the past.

  • Crust is a good thickness.

Cons:

  • What in the hell is with this spice? Stop it. (-2 points)

  • Could use more cheese, once you cut into it, it all gets pulled off. (-1 point)

  • Could also use more toppings. The pepperonis are pretty small and they shrink when cooked. (-1 point)
